Do you love veggies?
or just eat them because they are good for you?
You do know that they are good for you?
You have heard that!
But still you resist!
What do you do with them?
They are ... GREEN! and I am not Kermit (does anyone even know what a Kermit is?)
I guess I am showing my age. Or the fact that I had a Home Daycare forever.
I served the regular selection of child approved veggies - carrots, cucumbers, celery, trees (well small bits of broccoli), cherry tomatoes. But I guess that was about it. And even then I often had more fruit on the plate than veggies. I was just happy that they ate something other than crackers.
Now we know so much more.
Now don't think I don't have to work at it too. Fruit is naturally sweet so it is so much easier to swallow... ;) but veggies that take a bit more imagination.
We get an organic order every week from Ottawa Organics plus now the season is here a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) order which is from a local farm.
The variety is fantastic! It is like getting a Christmas basket every week. Some surprises that I have no idea what it is and have to check on the internet to figure out. But most of it is foods that I am familiar with but oh so tasty and fresh. And the colours!! So REAL! It even tastes like food.
I have a few pics to show you the variety of the weekly treats.
When you get your basket your mind just starts to go.
What can I make today! Or just nibble away! Or juice!
Eat your rainbow every day. Enjoy life!
Even carrots and tomatoes come in different colours.
After a shower you see a rainbow. It reminds you that the rain will stop and the sun will come out. No matter what the storm will end. At times it will feel like the rain will go on forever. But look at the beautiful harvest that Mother Nature and Father Time have produced. Enjoy! And reap the benefits. Make your own rainbow.
What you are you picking for your rainbow?
